Recent developments in speech and language research have increasingly put the spotlight on the need of prosody for the further advancement of spoken language technology. This workshop is intended to offer an opportunity to researchers working on this field for exchanging their ideas and methodologies on analysis, modeling of prosody as well as there use in speech synthesis through intensive discussions.  It will also offer researchers coming from different fields chances to start collaborative works. The workshop will consist of invited talks by eminent researchers in the field.  The workshop also include a hands-on session for understanding the different aspects of spoken language prosody, which will help especially the Indian researchers for modeling the prosody of various Indian languages.   Those who are interested to participate are advised to contact convenor, Dr. S. K. Das Mandal, CDAC, Kolkata, before 30th October,2009. 

 

The workshop is organized under the Strategic Japanese-Indian Co-operative Program “Modeling of Spoken Language Prosody and Its Use in Speech Synthesis”, which is operated by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India, and Japan Science and Technology (JST), Govt. of Japan.
